ATTRACTING NEW AND EXPERIENCED PHYSICIANS TO LEWISHAM'S MEDICAL WORKFORCE AND TESTING OUT NEW MODELS OF CARE

Text

Have you heard about physician associates? We would like your feedback.

Physicians associates are a relatively new role developed in the United States. Graduates of a science degree, or an existing nurse, midwife or other healthcare professional, they undergo postgraduate training and work under the supervision of a GP to perform a number of day-to-day tasks in the practice:

  • taking medical histories
  • performing examinations
  • diagnosing illnesses
  • analysing test results
  • developing management plans

Do you have a view? Do you think this will help you in your work? Lewisham CEPN would welcome your feedback about this before beginning any further investigation into its local potential. Please respond to: mail@lewishamcepn.community
